Welcome to Solaras!
Solaras Border Collies is a small kennel located in North Georgia. We breed just one to two litters a year, and are exclusively focused on all things border collie! We are located on a hobby sheep farm, for the enjoyment of our dogs.
Solaras started in 2004 with our first Border Collie, Smitty. Kiri soon joined the household, and our lives were then dedicated to making sure our dogs had all of the education and exercise a border collie deserves.
We train in agility and herding for their recreation, but our competitive focus is on conformation. To date, we have owned and bred over 25 champions and grand champions some of whom have also titled in herding, agility, rally, obedience, Fast CAT, flyball and trick dog competition. But we are proudest of producing beautiful and loving companion dogs for our puppy buyers and friends.
In 2016, Barbara had the honor of being nominated and elected by the Border Collie Society of America membership to judge the National Specialty Sweepstakes. In 2019, she and Gay Silva were invited to chair the 2019 National Specialty, where Barbara was also the Breeder Judge for the Top 20 Best of Breed and the Owner Handler Top 20 Best of Breed. It has been a joy to see and examine the rising stars and best of our breed, from across the country.
